What is an elective ultrasound?

Elective ultrasounds are non-medical nor diagnostic and DO NOT replace the exam you receive at your doctor's office. This is only a bonding experience for mother, baby and family. Including, a keepsake, entertainment and viewing purposes only.

A physician consent form will be required by your appointment time. As well as a release and waiver of liability. Forms will be emailed to you when you request to book your appointment at the email address used.

What is 2D/4D/HD/5D?

2D is the traditional grayscale ultrasound method that has been used for years. 2D produces flatter, two dimensional, black and white image of your baby.  You can see the bone of the baby highlighted in white.

4D ultrasound creates a live video effect, like a movie-  you can watch a baby's facial expressions, features and body movements in real time. Baby will appear in a yellow/tan color.

5D or HD  for High Definition is an exciting new technology that lets you see your baby in a realistic view or what many call the "flesh tone look" . This will show baby with reddish/pinkish color as if you are seeing baby inside the womb.

Are you able to tell sex/gender of baby?

Yes, we can provide gender determination as early as 14 1/2 wks. We can't guarantee baby will cooperate during  your session. Certain factors such as body tissue content, developmental stage and fetal position all affect the ability to determine sex.  If this is the case and we cannot determine sex, we will offer a gender recheck within a week at no additional charge. But, most of the time we will be able to determine at first appointment.

How to prepare for 4D?

Drink plenty of water! Be sure to increase your fluid intake a few days prior to your appointment. Hydration can significantly improve the clarity of an ultrasound. An adequate amount of fluid levels around the baby improves image quality.  Also, have a snack an hour or so prior to appointment, this helps wake baby up a bit.

What is your booking policy?

All appointment requests will require a 25.00 deposit fee to guarantee your slot. This will go towards your balance.

What is your cancellation policy?

We understand life happens but, in the instance you cannot keep your appointment. We kindly request a 24 hour cancellation or re-schedule notice (or the night before if last minute). If you need to cancel, please message at 214-499-7443 or via the booking site. For same day cancellations, deposit fee will not be refunded.

Will my insurance cover this type of ultrasound?

We DO NOT accept insurance as a form of payment due to this being an ELECTIVE ultrasound.  Not covered by medical insurance.

In case of severe weather?

We will follow Arlington public schools in the event of severe weather, school and road closures. If their public schools are closed then we are too. If you're scheduled on one of these closed weather days, I will gladly reschedule your appointment for the next soonest available slot open and at your convenience. Thank you in advance for your cooperation and understanding in this matter.

Is ultrasound safe?

Ultrasound is the safest image modality. Ultrasound uses sound waves to penetrate through tissue and reflect back creating an image, there is no radiation used, unlike other imaging modalities.  We adhere to the AIUM guidelines where it states ultrasound is safe but exposure time should be limited to 30 minutes.

When is the best time for ultrasound?

Anytime is a good time to see your baby! This all depends on what you are wanting to see. By 8wks you can see the flicker of your baby's heartbeat and at 12wks you can hear your baby's hearbeat. Gender can be determined as early as 14wks by ultrasound or 7wks via SneekPeek DNA test- a small blood sample collection is taken. 26-35wks is the best time to see your baby's facial features ** fluid and position have a great impact on fetal images and clarity**
